GROUND SCHOOL

Cadet’s interested inperson Ground School should speak to OCdt Dyke or email 819air for more information.

What is Online Ground School?

The OGS is part of the Air Cadet National Selection Process and is comprised of 45 hours of self-paced learning. This includes model tests, quizzes, and the completion of a practice and selection exam. To participate, cadets will require access to a personal computer or mobile device and a broadband internet connection. Throughout the OGS, participating Air Cadets will have access to a Transport Canada Civil Aviation certified instructor to help with course material, answer questions, and provide support for challenging topics.

How do cadets apply for 2024/25 Online Ground School?

Air Cadets who meet eligibility criteria for either flying course (glider or power pilot training) can be registered by squadron staff at 819air@cadets.gc.ca.  Cadets may only register for one of the courses.

Other Important Information

Cadets must have access to Cadet365 as this email address will be used for OGS registration. Cadets will receive OGS login instructions directly from the contractor by 15 Oct 23. If cadets have not received login information by 15 Oct 23, please ensure they check their Cadet365 email, including any junk mail folders, for an email from Moncton Flight College Training’s Pelesys system. Staff shall also verify that the OGS participation application was submitted to the RCSU. Note that offers of participation will not be published to the squadron. After these steps have been taken, staff may contact RCSUPac.J5+OGS@cadets.gc.ca for assistance.

Note, if cadets have not yet completed the Cadet Cyber Awareness Course, they must do so prior to starting the OGS Course.

When should I complete my Transport Canada medical examination?

As soon as possible. Delays of up to six months for unremarkable medical exams are common and any findings during the exam can create further delays. To avoid disappointment at the medical submission deadline, book your exam now! For examiners in your area, please see the link below.

There will be no allowance for late medical certificates and there will be no means of expediting the process at Transport Canada Civil Aviation Medicine so do not delay in starting this process. Medical Certificates are valid for 5 years and can be used for future applications to GTPC or PPTC if a cadet’s application is unsuccessful this year.
