Education Credits

The Minister of Education approved a revision to the Graduation Credits Order to include credits for training received in Cadets. Cadets may obtain up to eight (8) credits towards Secondary School graduation. Four (4) credits may be obtained at Grade 11 by successfully completing Level Four squadron training, or an approved six-week summer training course, and four (4) credits may be earned at Grade 12 for successfully completing Level Five squadron training, or an approved six-week summer training course. Employment as a Staff Cadet may be used as an alternative to a summer training course.

The BC Ministry of Education has approved certain Sea, Army and Air Cadet activities as External Youth Development Courses eligible for graduation credits. The BC Ministry of Education awards these credits based on their current requirements. Up-to-date information can be obtained on their website

The BC Ministry of Education has authorized four (4) credits maximum for each of Grades 10, 11 and 12 as follows:

Course Code / Course Title / Credits Earned:

  • UXCA 10 / Cadet 10 / 4 credits – completion of level 3 or an introductory specialty course.

  • UXCA 11 / Cadet 11 / 4 credits – completion of level 4 or complete an advanced specialty course.

  • UXCA 12 / Cadet 12 / 4 credits – completion of level 5 or an advanced specialty course.

Qualifying introductory courses for air cadets include:

  • Basic Aviation Course

  • Basic Aviation Technology and Aerospace Course

  • Basic Drill and Ceremonial Course

  • Basic Survival Course

  • Basic Fitness and Sports Course

  • Basic Musician Course

Qualifying advanced specialty courses for air cadets include:

  • Advanced Aviation Course

  • Airport Operations

  • Aircraft Maintenance

  • Advanced Aerospace

  • Drill and Ceremonial Instructor Course

  • Survival Instructor Course

  • Fitness and Sports Instructor Course

  • Air Rifle Marksmanship Instructor Course

  • Staff Cadet

  • Glider Pilot Scholarship

  • Power Pilot Scholarship

  • Intermediate Musician

  • Advanced Musician
