Mighty Wings Jazz Ensemble Auditions 2016-17

759 RCACS hosted Mighty Wings Jazz Ensemble composed of members of Air Cadets from squadrons across the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley will be hosting auditions on Sunday, 11 Sep 16 from 1500 – 2100 hrs at the 759 RCACS trg location situated at 4585 Albert St, Burnaby, BC.

Over the past 3 years, the Mighty Wings Jazz Ensemble has performed across Metro Vancouver in support of a wide variety of causes and events while promoting the RCAC program and the CCO, extending the reach to the general public that most squadron bands would have challenges accessing. With 12 squadrons being represented in the 2015 – 16 iteration of the ensemble, it is our goal to continue to showcase the talent and work ethic of our skilled cadet musicians as well continually challenge their development as musicians and cadets so that they are better able to lead their squadron bands.

Cadets from squadrons across the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley are invited to sign up for a time slot for the audition here (http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c044baaaf28a5fa7-2016) and fill out a questionnaire here (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScfrTMh5IsRX2UOQxt-StSmbgpIZdgFRv3J0jWPwDKy8q64UA/viewform?c=0&w=1).

Cadets that were part of the ensemble in 2015 – 16 that wish to return are not required to participate in the auditions for the 2016 – 17 trg year.

We are seeking cadets that play the following instruments for the audition:

Alto Saxophone, Tenor Saxophone, Baritone Saxophone,  Trumpet , Trombone,  Bass Trombone,  Keyboard, Guitar, Bass Guitar, Drums, Vocals

Cadets are to prepare the following for the audition:

  1. A mandatory piece (see signupgenius link for instructions)
  2. A piece of their choosing that preferably contrasts the mandatory piece and showcases their playing ability and musicianship
  3. Major & minor scales
  4. Cadets will also be assessed on their sightreading ability, and go through a brief interview.

If you have any questions or concerns about the audition process or the ensemble, please feel free to contact Lt J Mok
